At the end of 2021, I decided to sign up for a Half Ironman*.

(*"Man" in all the air quotes).
It wasn't a New Years Resolution. It's not quite a bucket list item. Maybe a little bit. But it's actually more of a "I know I'm strong and I want to see myself do this" empowerment move. I've been swimming, biking, and running since I was a kid and I wanted to push myself a little further while still doing things I enjoy. The event is half of a full Ironman event: 1.2 mile swim, 54 mile bike, and 13.1 mile run. I want this to be a fun and empowering experience. I want to follow through with training, but listen to my body when it needs to rest. I want to take care of myself from now until the finish line (and beyond!) with food that tastes good.
