RECIPE: Fall in Wisconsin = Nutkrack Caramel Apples!!

This recipe comes to us from our in-house photographer Amy.  Amy used to be our super-sampler, sharing Nutkrack and Firekracker with thousands of new friends all over Wisconsin.  These days she is taking most of the awesome pics you see on our site, and testing recipes with her beautiful family.  Amy's kids will vouch for this one, it is delicious!!

Caramel apples with Nutkrack!

6 apples
6 skewers or popsicle sticks
1 bag of caramels such at Werther's Chewy Caramels (5.5oz) 
2 tablespoons milk
1 cup chopped Nutkrack
Wash and thoroughly dry apples
Add a skewer to each apple
Melt unwrapped caramels in a microwave safe bowl for 30 sec. Stir and continue to melt in 30 second intervals stirring in between until completely melted
Stir in 2 tablespoons of milk to slightly thin caramel
Working quickly, dip apples into caramel using a spoon to help cover if desired
Immediately roll and/or sprinkle on chopped Nutkrack
Place on a sheet of wax paper to cool. To speed up the setting process these can be put into the refrigerator.
